Register for the Fall Homeschool Series

Red Oaks Nature Center and Wint Nature Center have introduced a new weekly homeschool
series for fall. Beginning in October, both centers are moving from a monthly gathering to a weekly experience. This means more opportunities for students to enjoy the outdoors and learn about nature through hands-on lessons guided by experienced naturalists.

Students will explore a different topic each week while participating in inquiry-based learning and nature exploration. They will also create a STEM-based project. This cumulative learning opportunity provides opportunities for participants to build on prior experiences and form friendships with other homeschool students.

The Homeschool Series is available at Red Oaks Nature Center from 2-4 p.m. on Thursdays and Wint Nature Center from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays. Each program is designed for students ages 6-12 as a drop-off/pick-up format. All homeschooled students are welcome. A release form must be completed with registration.

Additional Information

• Homeschool sessions meet weekly for two months
• Time: 2-4 p.m.
• Dates: Oct. 7-Dec. 2 (no class Nov. 25) at Wint and Oct. 8-Dec. 3 (no class Nov. 26) at Red Oaks
• Enrollment in the entire series is required; cost is $80/child for the eight-week series
• This is the fall session. Winter and spring sessions will also be offered

Programs take place rain or shine. Dress for the weather as portions of the program may be outdoors.

These items are highly encouraged:

• Closed-toe shoes
• Clothing that can get messy
• Refillable water bottle

Recommended but optional items:

• Sunscreen and bug spray during the warmer months
• Coat, hat and gloves
• Snack

Register in person at the Red Oaks or Wint nature centers or at the Waterford Oaks Parks Office, 2800 Watkins Lake Road in Waterford during regular business hours. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted.
