Dirty Work Field Day Workshop

Get Your Hands Dirty: Field day offered for landscape pros

Join Michigan State University Extension, Oakland County CISMA and Oakland County Parks for a free Dirty Work Field Day workshop intended for landscape professionals, nursery owners and operators and private and commercial licensed pesticide applicators in need of continuing education credits (MDARD Pesticide CEU). A full- or half-day in-person workshop will be held at Lyon Oaks County Park and Event Center, 52221 Pontiac Trail in Wixom on Oct. 6. The morning session will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a break from noon-1 p.m. for lunch. The afternoon session will run from 1-5 p.m.

Content will focus on:

  • Invasive species treatments in natural areas
  • Management of invasive pests, such as box tree moth, relevant to landscape and nursery pests
  • Information about newly listed invasive woody plants in Michigan

The full day in-person option is worth six credits. The half-day virtual (morning only) or in-person option is worth three credits. Participants must stay for the full sessions to receive credits from MDARD. In addition, participants who attend the full day in-person will receive two landscape alternative shrub options to trial at home.
