PONTIAC, Mich. – Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged Armani Laquarius Phillips, a 21-year-old Pontiac resident, with Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm.

 

On August 30, the defendant allegedly stabbed the victim four times in the lower neck and shoulder. The incident took place inside the back office of the Sbarro at Great Lakes Crossing, where both men are employed. The two men reportedly had a standing dispute over an allegedly stolen backpack. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. His injuries were not life-threatening.

 

“Settling disputes with violence is never acceptable,” said Prosecutor McDonald. “The defendant’s co-workers have a right to a safe workplace, and customers at the mall should feel safe while shopping. We intend to hold him accountable.”

 

Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm is punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $5,000.

 

Charges are accusations, and individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
