Build a Registered Apprenticeship program to expand your skilled workforce and provide a comprehensive, work-based training opportunity.

Apprenticeships combine classroom study with paid, on-the-job training under the supervision of a journey-level craftsperson or trade professional as a mentor.

The length of apprenticeships vary, depending on the training requirements that you determine are necessary for apprentices to succeed.

Registered Apprenticeship programs may be eligible for federal and state grant support.

According to The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, 94% of apprentices stay with their organization upon program completion. Oakland County employers interested in launching their own Registered Apprenticeship Program to separate themselves in the race to build a talented workforce are invited to a special workshop and panel discussion hosted by Oakland County Michigan Works! Join us on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor and Workforce Intelligence Network, which will focus on the race to build a skilled workforce with home-grown apprentices. Learn from experts and hear from employment partners how an intermediary can help facilitate the administrative process of starting and maintaining a viable Registered Apprenticeship Program.

  • Introduction to Apprenticeship Intermediary programs
  • Panel discussion with employers and apprentices from Barron Industries, Elite School Management and FANUC.
